Afton Oaks is located near the intersection of Richmond Avenue and the 610 West Loop, giving residents easy access to Greenway Plaza, The Galleria, and Downtown Houston.
The area has over 500 homes, many single-story ranch-style homes built in the 1950s. By the early 2000s many of these homes had been renovated, however.
Katherine Feser of the Houston Chronicle said that the remodelings “have transformed many of the original 1950s ranch houses into properties that rival recently built homes.”
The Afton Oaks Civic Club has actively preserved the history, beauty, and legacy of the Afton Oaks neighborhood since its establishment in 1955. The club maintains common areas, arranges security and trash pickup, and monitors deed restrictions across the neighborhood.
Afton Oaks offers residents Inner Loop convenience, a wide variety of single-family home choices, a rich canopy of old-growth hardwood trees and a 50-year history of active civic involvement. The Afton Oaks Civic Club provides a range of services to its members as shown on the pages to the left, and it thanks the sponsors below for their support of the neighborhood.
